Transformers: Dark of the Moon released over a week ago. If you plan on seeing it, chances are you have done so already. If you haven’t, you might be wondering if it’s worth your money and time after the abyssal previous movie, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Mortal Kombat: From Rebirth to Legacy

What originally started as a favor among friends has now finally come to fruition. Mortal Kombat: Legacy, the web-series from Kevin Tancharoen, was released today exclusively to Machinima on YouTube. Almost a year has passed since the leaked YouTube video was first seen as a peek into Tancharoen’s vision of the Mortal Kombat universe.

X-Men: First Class Trailer

The first official trailer for X-Men: First Class was released today. Initially, I thought the idea of going back to the roots of X-Men for a film sounded exciting, as the setting in which they formed was surrounded by a lot of American history, and portraying fictional characters reacting to that history was a new way of presenting the X-Men. However, the more I heard about what characters would be appearing in the film, the more I started to question design ideas and direction. After the recent official photos were released, I sincerely doubted how well the film might be received (the photo of Magneto with helmet on looks absolutely ridiculous). Now that the trailer is released, my faith is restored a little bit, but I still have doubts about choice of characters and their design. Check out the full trailer below. X-Men: First Class will be released in theaters on June 3rd, 2011.

Black Dahlia Salvation

Yesterday Rockstar Games released a new trailer for their upcoming game, L.A. Noire. The trailer, which originally leaked last Friday, teases the plot for the Team Bondi developed game. Set in 1940s Los Angeles, you play as a Detective Cole Phelps (voiced and acted by Mad Men actor Aaron Staton) trying to solve a case of a serial killer targeting young women, leaving behind clues and messages. Think of it as mixing L.A. Confidential and Red Dead Redemption. As suggested by the title, the game’s atmosphere and environments play heavily on the look of film noir, using low-key lighting, crime, and ambiguity. The game also features a unique facial animation system and boasts the ability to decipher the truth from lies from facial cues. L.A. Noire is set to release on May 17 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Welcome to Jurassic Park

Cue the John Williams music, Jurassic Park is making a comeback, but not in theaters. Last June, Telltale Games, developer of the Sam & Max and Tales of Monkey Island adventure games, inked a deal with NBC Universal for the rights to create two games based on the Back to the Future franchise and Jurassic Park franchise. The first episode of a five episode Back to the Future season was released last December, with the next episode coming in February.

The Silver Screen is a Little Less Silvery

This post was supposed to come a few days after Christmas, after I had saw Tron: Legacy and re-watched the original Tron. Between family and the holidays, things got pushed back. But I’m finally able to get some time to tell you my thoughts. This isn’t so much of a review as it is just an observation and what I’ve come to know.
