Gamescom 2011 Trailers

While not technically the first day of Gamescom 2011 in Cologne, Germany, those attending took the opportunity to release new trailers for upcoming games releasing this year and into next. More information is sure to come as the show floor officially opens up tomorrow, but these visuals will hopefully tide you over until then.

The Secret World

Funcom released a new trailer for their upcoming massively multi-player online role-playing game, The Secret World. It features all three characters from their previous trailers as they take on an enormous Lovecraftian creature from beneath the earth. They also announced beta sign-ups for The Secret World will begin on August 26 and that release is planned for April 2012.

Batman: Arkham City

I’m starting to wonder how long Batman: Arkham City will be. The newest trailer adds Mr. Freeze into the mix of an already staggering cast including The Joker, Poison Ivy, Jack Ryder, Victor Zsasz, The Riddler, Harley Quinn, Bane, Catwoman, Hugo Strange, Two-Face, The Penguin, Talia al Ghul, Calendar Man, and Solomon Grundy. Batman: Arkham City releases on October 18 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Devil May Cry

Fans of Capcom’s Devil May Cry series were upset over the reboot and redesign of the main character Dante. The newest trailer shows the same redesigned Dante, but a little less scrawny and a little more vicious. Is it enough to satisfy fans? We’ll see. Being developed by Ninja Theory, Devil May Cry will release sometime in 2012 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Imagine playing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion with a combat system similar to the God of War series. That’s what Kingdoms of Amaluar: Reckoning is in a nutshell. Being developed by Curt Schilling’s 38 Studios, Reckoning will be available on February 7, 2012 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Mass Effect 3

The first of several-to-come trailers highlighting combat in Mass Effect 3 shows Commander Shepard taking the role of squad leader as he commands his squad against Ceberus. Mass Effect 3 is coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on March 6, 2012.

Battlefield 3

The explosive official trailer for Battlefield 3 shows off the 64 player multi-player maps for Battlefield 3. Tank, jeeps, jets, and helicopters all return for the highly anticipated title using DICE’s new Frosbite 2 engine. Battlefield 3 is coming on October 25 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
