During a Warner Bros. Interactive pre-E3 event as part of judge’s week in Los Angeles, a new downloadable Batman was revealed titled Gotham City Imposters.
Warner Bros., following up on the success of the recent Christopher Nolan Batman films and the upcoming game Batman: Arkham City, is working with F.E.A.R. developer Monolith and to develop a multi-player first-person-shooter for XBLA and PSN.
Players won’t take the role of the cape crusader. Instead, they will align themselves with either Batman or the Joker and plays as "amateur vigilantes or villains" with custom character options including cowl, legs, hands, feet, logo, and voice options. Different weapons and gadgets will also be available, such as the grapple gun, roller skates, and a glider rig.
Kotaku’s hands-on report called it, "a bit like a Team Fortress game, with fast gameplay and quick matches." Gametypes and modes are said to be "inspired by DC Comics' Batman license." The demo being showed a 4v4 multi-player match, but Warner Bros. said the maximum number of players has not been finalized.
No release date information was announced, but I would guess a summer release would be suitable as that is usually the norm for downloadable titles. You can visit the official site here. Gotham City Imposters will be available on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network.
